What’s New at Lockwell: Q1 2025 Product Updates

Tuesday, April 8, 2025

At Lockwell, we build for the real world — for the office managers onboarding new staff, the nonprofit directors juggling twenty roles, and the small business teams doing high-impact work without the luxury of a dedicated IT department.

Every product update we roll out is designed with you in mind: to save time, reduce risk, and make cybersecurity something you can actually manage.

Here’s a full look at what we launched in Q1 2025 — from smarter backups and easier vendor oversight to real-time audit trails and cloud file protection.

Device Backups: Because Data Loss Shouldn’t Mean Starting Over

Devices get lost. Laptops crash. Ransomware happens. Lockwell’s new Device Backup feature ensures that when it does, your files are still safe — and restorable.

We back up the files in your home directory, including personal documents, downloads, photos, and more. While system files and applications aren’t backed up, Lockwell captures a list of your installed apps to help you recover faster.

It’s a simple way to give your team peace of mind — especially for remote or field-based teams where physical device risk is higher.

Workspace Security: Smarter Protection for Google Drive

Google Workspace makes collaboration easy — but file security can quickly get messy. Old documents, outdated permissions, and public links can leave sensitive information exposed without anyone realizing it.

Lockwell now automatically scans your team’s Google Drive and flags files that are shared too broadly or publicly. You’ll get real-time alerts in your dashboard and can fix permissions with a single click.

It’s a powerful layer of protection that helps prevent accidental data leaks — without slowing your team down.

Forensic Audit Logs: Visibility Without the Complexity

Sometimes, you need to know who did what, when — not because something’s gone wrong, but because staying accountable is part of staying secure.

With Lockwell’s new Forensics tab, you now have a complete audit trail across your systems. See user actions like device changes, VPN connections, user status updates, app installs, and more.

Each log includes the user, the resource, the action taken, and the time it happened. Filter by user, event type, or time range. Whether you’re responding to an incident or preparing for a compliance audit, it’s all right there — no digging, no confusion.

Vendor Management: Keep Security Tight Across Your Partnerships

Your vendors are an extension of your organization — and if they’re not secure, you’re not either.

With Lockwell’s new Vendor Management feature, you can track all of your vendors in one place:

  • Monitor compliance and approval status

  • Upload key documents

  • Stay on top of security checks without relying on spreadsheets

It’s a simple but powerful way to close the loop on third-party risk — and make sure your external relationships don’t introduce internal vulnerabilities.

More Features You Might’ve Missed

Alongside these major updates, we also rolled out a series of smaller enhancements — each designed to improve the Lockwell experience in meaningful ways.

Dashboard Stats & Activity Feed

We’ve added new personal and team-level stats to help you understand how protected you are — and where attention is needed. View metrics like:

  • Emails scanned

  • Data backed up

  • Time to resolve issues

  • Open issues by category or timeframe

You’ll also see a live activity feed so you can stay on top of recent changes at a glance.

Improved VPN Experience

Our VPN tool got a design refresh and an upgrade in performance. It’s now more robust and easier to use, with new visual maps showing continent-level connections (country-level coming soon).

Email Firewall Upgrades

Our email scanning engine has gotten smarter, faster, and more accurate. You can now take direct action on flagged messages — whether from the dashboard or your inbox.

Faster Onboarding for Teams

We simplified the steps for new team members to get started securely, including a cleaner invite flow and in-app guidance for setting up their security tools. Admins also get a checklist to help configure protections across the team.

Updated Password Vault

Our password manager is now faster and more reliable, with support for importing from Google Keychain and more design improvements on the way.

Real-Time Location View

Admins can now view user and device locations in real time using our new globe-based dashboard view — especially useful for distributed teams or remote device tracking.

Designed for Real-World Teams

Cybersecurity isn’t just a checklist — it’s a daily challenge for small teams doing meaningful work. At Lockwell, we’re focused on building tools that fit into your day, support your people, and remove the friction from staying protected.

These Q1 updates are all live now and available in your Lockwell dashboard. No add-ons. No upgrade tiers. Just better security — made simpler.

If you’re new here and want to see what Lockwell can do, let’s talk. We’d love to show you how we’re helping small teams stay secure without the overwhelm.
